Fear and panic don’t have to be your story!

Can we have victory over anxiety? Can you overcome panic attacks? Our world is so busy! We can have the peace of God in the craziness when we learn how to overcome fear and panic by partnering with God.

At 25 years old, Christy Boulware was so successful, but in 2011 she had her first panic attack. Her life snowballed from there- paralysis, vision issues, and she had to rush to the emergency room in the middle of the night. All the tests show that ALL is fine- NOTHING was wrong with her. She felt like she was dying. The doctor said to Christy, “You have anxiety.”

Christy was shocked! Christy had everything: money, success, children, and happy marriage.

But her anxiety got worst, and she had back-to-back panic attacks. She had to have her mom help take care of her children because she couldn’t get out of the bedroom. She then had suicidal thoughts.

The fact is that anxiety will manifest. Stress and anxiety can physically show up: shortness of breath, GI tract can be impacted, the tension in your body, and maybe your chest tightens. There will be constant obsessive thoughts. Then, spiritually we are attacked through fear.

Christy shares that your nervous breakdown can be a nervous breakthrough!

From her own experiences, Christy shows how you, too, can find victory over panic attacks and anxiety.

The two lifesaving keys to overcoming anxiety are surrender and prayer! Christy invites you to do as she did and untie your superwoman cape. No one is capable of doing it all! No matter how highly successful we are, we must pause and allow God to take control of our lives, cry out and surrender to God.

Christy shares that she was a fan and not a follower of God but committed to going deeper with God. This is where her healing began.

She shares that we need to pray for God to help us and line up Christian helpers, doctors, counselors, and friends. These influences will help give us strength and encourage us to take faithful steps.

We can’t get too comfortable in our pain. We need to take steps to gain victory!

God wants to help. He wants us to have victory! Fear is mentioned over 360 times in the Bible. We will face it, but we don’t have to stay in it and overcome it through the power of Jesus.

Here are a few keys to help us move out of anxiety into God’s healing arms:

  1. Surrender- allow God to be our ALL. We need to surrender everything to God so that He can lift us and heal us.
  2. Prayer- Pray- do not be anxious about anything. In the scripture, we get a prescription straight from God. Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

The prescription is to mix these ingredients:

-Pray and ask God for help

-Be thankful; don’t grumble and complain

– Find His goodness and grace in everything

-Ask Him to help you where you need help, get specific with your needs- then the peace of God will fill our hearts and minds

  1. Find a Christian counselor who helps you see it as God sees it, mixing theory and truth.

Remember, there is no shame in anxiety or panic attacks. Don’t stay stuck, and please take the steps needed to find the healing Christy shares that helped her find victory! Also, don’t feel like a failure if you have a setback. You will see success as you keep seeking God’s healing touch.

God are you with me in my struggle?

God are you with me in my struggle is what Misty Phillip asked God. Now she shares what her experiences were with us in today’s Livin’ Lively with Laine blog.

I experienced many struggles from an early age. And then I thought when I became a believer that somehow life was going to be so much more amazing and that I wouldn’t have struggles. And anybody who reads the Bible knows that Jesus said that in this world, we will have tribulation, not we might have tribulation. And part of the Believers Walk is going through trials and tribulations and it is those trials and tribulations that conform us to the image of Christ and make us more like him when we surrender and submit our lives to Him.

It’s hard, though, isn’t it? I mean, in the midst of the struggle, I mean, it is hard to go, Okay, God, you’re curating something beautiful out of this. And that is why it is a struggle because I think any of us with a faith root system, we know God is there. But sometimes we don’t feel like it, do we? Yeah, it can definitely be a challenge. But for me, I know that when I was going through some really serious struggles as a young wife and a mother, the only thing that got me through those struggles was my lifeline to the Word of God. And it was those times that God really poured into me that then I was able to pour that back out on the pages of the struggle is real, but so is God.

One particular season that I was referencing, as a new mom, I was on bed rest with my youngest son for almost my entire pregnancy. I had two boys that I was homeschooling, one of which had grandmal seizures as a baby and profound special needs. At the same time, we lived next door to my husband’s parents, who both had brain tumors. So in that time, my husband lost his job. It was literally like one major thing after another. And that is just in a short couple of years span. It was exhausting. And I was like God, why not question him? Like, why is this happening? But what can I do?

You know, just being in His word, just searching for truth. And that’s where I learned that we all have struggles, right? Sometimes they’re small struggles, sometimes they’re big struggles, your struggles are going to be different than my struggles. You know, other struggles I experienced in the past, I’ve lost babies had a stillborn child with trisomy 18, experienced a lot of death and grief in my family. I was in rebellion as a young person and did all the wrong things before.

God radically changed my life.

But in seasons I was truly walking in darkness, and God radically pulled me out of that. So all of those struggles, you may not have my struggles but at some level, we all struggle, whether it’s tension within our family, a job loss, or the death of a loved one. And so how we navigate those trials is what I think is so important.

I think it’s okay for us to take our questions to God, and to ask him why we just can’t get stuck in the why we have to surrender and bow our knees to him and pick up that cross and follow Him. And it’s not always easy. But when we do that we can rest under his sovereign hand. You know, and as you’re talking, we see these are just amazing stories of true struggles. You know, I feel struggles are kind of universal, and they all are equal. I mean, what may be a struggle for you might necessarily be a greater struggle for someone else. I mean, struggles or struggles is all I’m getting to. I don’t think we need to have opinions or measurements of it. If someone’s hurting then that’s my measurement. If you’re hurting if you’re in grief or if you’re struggling over something that you could not prevent that, man, those are tough times.

And you do wonder like you said, why not? Why God, but why? Why? What am I going to do on it? God? Tell us a little bit how your devotion or your Bible study came about through these struggles. Yeah. So when my oldest son went to college, I had homeschooled my boys and thought I was just going to homeschool my boys and then be a grandma. And I realized very quickly, if I didn’t find something else to do with my time that I would drive my boys absolutely crazy.

And so I began praying and asking God and seeking Him for the next step in my life. And when my son was in college, he had signed up for a bike race. It’s called the Ms. 150. It goes from Houston to Austin. And he was working full time and going to school full time, and he wasn’t getting those rides in. And so as a good mom, I was like, come on, son. I’ll go for a ride with you.

Well, long story short, I wasn’t wearing a helmet that day. And I had a terrible bike accident that I snapped both of my arms after over the end on my bike, and I didn’t have that helmet. So I put my arms out, you know, to break my fall. And for the next year, I couldn’t do anything as my arms healed.

And God had me sit. And over that time, He just spoke his love over me. And then I realized, I’m the older woman, and that I needed to take the lessons that God was sharing with me, and share them with others. So I went to my husband. And I said, I really feel like I’m called to write a Bible study. And he said, I think you’re right. And I said, I think I should write it about overcoming. And he said, Maybe that’s your life story you absolutely do.

So the first thing I did was I got into the Greek. And I started to look at every reference of the word overcome in the Bible. And really, in one sitting, God gave me the structure of the Bible study. We went to church the next day, and the pastor was preaching from Joshua, about being strong and courageous. And my family knew the music that day was Susan Ashton, who was a contemporary Christian singer in the 90s, who, when I first got saved, that’s all I listened to. And she has the song about the Spirit moving us that we can’t go from one place to the other, unless the spirit moves us. And my family knew in that moment that God was anointing me to write this study, I can’t even explain it to you. But they all looked at me. And they knew.

I’m so glad, because it took me three years to write that study. And things don’t always work out the way we think or in the timing that we think that they are. But it did launch at number one on Amazon. And I have won a Golden scroll award for it. And God has truly just blessed my meager efforts of taking people from Genesis to Revelation, and showing them that God has not left us alone that he has promises to his overcomers.

Here are a couple of keys for you today that would to help transform you today.

  1. So the first thing is you have to be in the Word, you have to be in the word so that the word is it gets inside of you so that you can use that word as a weapon. That’s what God says it’s the sword of the Spirit. And so every time Jesus was tempted, He spoke back to Satan with the Word of God, if we don’t have that word of God in us, we can’t use it as a weapon. So that’s first and foremost, we have to be in the Word.
  2. And then second of all, Praise is a weapon. You know, when I am struggling, I crank my praise music up, I go for a walk, get out in God’s creation. And then I would just say a heart of gratitude. Like every day that we wake up is a gift from God. And so if we can just thank him even in the midst of our difficult situation. I think that he can work in ways when our heart is open and receptive and we have a heart have gratitude because we have to keep our eyes on eternity, knowing that this is a temporary situation that we have here on earth, and that if we can keep our eyes fixed on eternity, everything that we go through here will pale in comparison to the amazing glory that we will receive. And heaven.
  3. One of the best features in my study is that you can have the daily affirmations. And so I basically instead of having them, you know, say something worldly about themselves, like I’m empowered, and I can do these things. It’s really about taking the Scripture and applying the scripture to your life. So I’ll use that example. I can do all things not I can do all things. But I can do all things with the strength of Christ. And so it’s just taking the scriptures and really claiming those promises. And if you were in the struggle, I would just encourage you to grab that studying some friends and go through it together. And it’s powerful. I love to say healing is better, we do it together. And I think that is so powerful. And I’m going to also touch really quickly on the praise music very dear to my heart, I love to sing literally out my backyard many days with my Pandora way. You know, there’s something about when I’m down or upset, and I get some praise, music going. Literally the joy of the Lord just touches me. And I like to say mystery, and I’m sure you would do that. Anytime we get in the presence of God, whether it’s his word, whether in prayer or praise, we don’t leave the same, do we? That’s right. We never leave the same. The word is alive and active and being in his presence.

Just a touch from Jesus can radically change everything.

How to use Warfare Parenting to Bring Back our Prodigal Children

In this first Warfare Parenting blog, I wanted to draw a picture of what is coming up in the new Warfare Parenting Podcast Series that follows along with this blog, and you will love it. We will battle the most pressing topics facing our teens and young adult prodigals and how we can best help them as parents. You are not alone facing the giants of addictions, depression, cutting, and more trying to destroy our prodigal. Whether or not you are the parent or a teacher or have niece’s nephews, these struggles facing our teens and young adults matter to us.

How do we help them? How do we fight better?

My three kids are now all young adults– each one of them battled with some very dark challenges: sex, drugs, alcohol, porn, depression, and more. These are issues that we have got to take seriously. When I was in the warzone with my children, I was not sure they would ever be well. As a parent of a prodigal, I would cry out to God and ask, please keep my kids alive until the age of 25. I had read so much about how the brain’s frontal lobe did not fully develop until the mid-20s, so I would pray that God would help me get them to the age of 25 when they were better equipped to make better choices!

Today they all three have overcome and are living successfully free, whole, and healed lives.

Check out the Warfare Parenting Podcast – Laine Lawson Craft

Helping parents is a deep passion of mine. I want to support parents that are in the battle for their kids’ lives and help come alongside them to encourage, cultivate hope, give all the resources and tools to equip for the battle, and fight with you to win the victory over spiritual warfare over our teens and young adult prodigals bringing them back home!

Perhaps you have a child, like mine, who once lived in the way you’d hoped has now made bad choices. Our story begins with me sitting in my recliner on Mother’s Day, sobbing hysterically. My dreams and aspirations for all my children lay in tattered pieces. Indeed awful thoughts were circling over and over in my mind. Are my children going to survive? Live to be twenty-five years old? Will my sons end up dead, addicted, or in prison? Will my daughter find true happiness and worth? My heart was shattered into a million pieces. I didn’t know how to go on, but I knew that I somehow had to keep moving.

I know from experience that there is nothing worse than seeing our children following the path we prayed for daily then unexpectedly having to watch them falling backward. The disappointment can be paralyzing. The children we once knew seem to have all but disappeared. Gone is the joy, laughter, trust, and hopeful future we spent so much time daydreaming about. There is a fear and dread of what might be coming next in its place.

Perhaps my stories resonate with you as a parent. If so, then it’s time to separate the behavior from the child. The angels of darkness (also known as demons) are our true enemy, not our children. It’s hard to keep this in the forefront of our minds as our children’s eyes turn cold, and we feel as though they are disconnected from the love we continually offer, but we must do. Indeed, they are not blameless in their actions, but they are also being guided by powers they are probably not even aware of.

We will mix the spiritual perspective with the therapeutic side with experts from various fields weighing in on the struggles that prodigal teens and young adults are facing.

We’ve got incredible expert guests with real-life experiences with these struggles themselves sharing for our premiere season. You can listen or watch these powerful interviews on my YouTube channel

  • We will be talking to Adam Comer all about addictions, his powerful testimony over drugs-
  • Tina Yeager, a licensed counselor all about anorexia and her victory over the eating disorder and unexpected pregnancies and how to love and support these young mothers and dads
  • Lori Wildenberg, certified family counselor about Suicide and suicidal thoughts and how her own daughter committed Suicide but was miraculously unsuccessful
  • Dena Yohe, ministry leader, is all about cutting and what it means and how to heal from it as she shares her life-transforming story about her own daughter’s healing journey.

And more life-transforming and hope-filled episodes are coming!

Listen to the first Warefare Parenting Podcast episode!

This is a passion and a call on my life to help in every way that I can other parents who are fighting hell over their prodigal teens and young adults. In each episode, there will be frank and honest confessions, transparent stories, and life-changing applications that offer sound spiritual solutions to help maneuver this battle as we war emotionally, physically, psychologically, and spiritually for our prodigals!

Does this sound familiar? It’s another new day with another sleepless night because our child didn’t make it home. Our stomachs are upset, and our nerves are shot. Emotions are at an all-time high, and fear has overcome us. Of course, our trust with our prodigal is broken again. We have no idea how it could ever be rebuilt. Instinctively, we know that it is time to trust God yet again. But how do we continue to do that over and over?

You see my heart has been broken into a million pieces by my prodigal children way too many times, but now I can share the hope and inspiration and the tools and applications to help you find victory for your children too!

Parenting is hard- and there is NOT one perfect parent- The only perfect Father that exists is our heavenly Father- God Himself, the creator of all-the Father of us and the Father of our children too! Even God, the perfect Father, had two children, Adam and Eve, who disobeyed and made self-destructing choices- when we truly understand this, and then we realize that God has a plan for all of us, and He loves us extravagantly even when we sin and run from Him – He never quits pursuing us or loving us!

Give yourselves some grace- I’m breathing in God’s grace right now—NONE ZERO NADA No one is a perfect parent with perfect kids.

But together, we can walk this battle out, fighting for all of our children, especially our prodigal teens and young adults, and win the spiritual war!

AND What I can tell you is that a lot of people asked me how did all three of your children find themselves and victory – each episode will reveal more ways to understand and implement so that you can find more information- applications- tools- encouragement, and know that you are not alone in this battle. Together we will win the spiritual war over our teens and young adults so that they can live free, whole, and healed.

Thank YOU for reading this today- I want to hear from you. I want to be here to support you too! Please text- Hi Laine to 55444 that’s H I L A I N E to 5544, and we can connect! I want you to be a part of the conversation too! I want to hear your struggles and your powerful stories of victory too!

I need your help, too- please subscribe to this podcast – I don’t want you to miss a single episode, and please share this podcast with anyone in a battle with a teen or young adult prodigal.

So glad you are here, and together we can win this spiritual war and be part of the warfare parenting community!

Does God Speak to Me?

does god speak to me?

Does God speak to me? Did God speak through animals in the Bible? These are some great questions that we will have fun addressing today!

Let’s have some fun and see how God moves in ways we never knew He could! Today we learn that God talked through a donkey! That’s right- a donkey.

Have you ever heard that this was in the Bible? I had never heard it!

Here is the scripture reference:

WOW! If God speaks through a donkey, He will undoubtedly talk through to us!

Here are a few ways we can hear God speak:

  1. Be still and unplug from the noisy world so that we can listen to Him speak.
  2. Open up our expectation to the possibility that God will speak.
  3. Get your Bible to start reading His word and see if you read something that speaks right to your heart.
  4. Think through the past few weeks, and did someone like a friend, family member, pastor, or neighbor say something that made you feel affirmed or understood? That might be God speaking through them to you!
  5. Make it a point every day to spend some time with God praying and reading His word, and I know He will speak to you!

Susan K. Stewart shares how God used her raising donkeys to use them to tell others about God. Listen to the Livin’ Lively with Laine Podcast as Susan shares this funny and powerful story. Also, you can check out her devotion; Donkey Devos Listen when God Speaks.

Isn’t it great to know that God is the same God yesterday, today, and tomorrow a God that doesn’t change? God is still speaking to us! Now, all we have to do is to get still in a quiet place, read His word, communicate with Him through prayer, and listen to others for affirming or revelation words that touch our hearts.

Please reply to this blog here or in the comments below and let me know your stories of how God speaks to you too!

When the Worst Happens Unexpectedly What Do You Do?

When the Worst Happens
Today’s inspiration is helpful because we often don’t know when we get bad news or something terrible happens unexpectedly. What do we do when the worst happens?
Tricia Roos shares her extraordinary story about when the doctors told her that the baby she was carrying would not live. Three months pregnant and afraid, she began a journey against the doctor’s advice. She resolves to have her child. The ending is the same, but the story changes everything.
She has walked out with blind trust and showed us that hardships could end in hope. What do you do when our wishes change?
When the Worst Happens

Tricia shares some real-life applications to help us in the hardships of life:

  1. God separated day from the night so that we could have rest. Do all that you can to rest.
  2. Replenish yourself for the next day.
  3. Learn to live without planning so that your trust in God grows.
  4. Learn to give it to God, everything, every day, and rest in Him.
  5. Try to avoid the “what ifs” to keep anxiety away.
  6. Pursue this mindset every day; God has got you, so don’t worry so you can rest and figure it out later.
  7. When it is out of your control, let go and live in the moment.
  8. Lean into your trusted friends and be a friend to others.

Spiritual Goal List for 2020 | 12 Steps to Growth

Have you set your spiritual goal list for 2020? Many of us have created our new year resolutions and I’m sure the challenge to uphold those is already creeping in! What if instead of new year resolutions, we create a list of spiritual goals? These can benefit us far beyond the year 2020, because with my plan, you will be hooked on Jesus by the end of it. We all know, the only way to meet goals is to set them. So let’s make you a list of spiritual goals list for 2020!

You have to start somewhere.

We must start today as the year is in full speed. We can put a plan of action together so that we make progress and succeed in our spiritual lives this year!

As we make our spiritual goal list, I suggest dividing them into month-to-month goals. For example, we can set January as the month of prayer. We can learn more about prayer itself and that will open our heart’s desire to pray more. Throughout the month, we could journal daily with our prayers to God and dig deep in the scriptures praying the exact prayers written by the greatest leaders in the bible. This will improve your personal prayer life like never before!

Reconnect, Realign, and Reactivate your life.

As we spend more time in prayer it leads us to reconnect, realign, and reactivate our prayer life with God’s power.

Here are my suggestions for the monthly topics for your spiritual goals in 2020:

January: Prayer. Pray every day and study prayer in the Bible and pray different prayers from scriptures once a week. Write in Journal your prayers daily.

February: Scripture. Read God’s word every day aiming for at least 30 minutes a day. Write in Journal your insight and thoughts daily.

March: Reflection. Reflect everyday into your life and examine your daily habits and lifestyle and implement or take away things that do not line up with God’s will and ways. Write in your journal every adjustment that you make in your life daily.

April: Presence. Get still and into God’s presence in the quiet and away from the noise and confusion of the world for thirty minutes a day. Write in journal the experiences you feel and the thoughts that are pressed into your heart daily.

May: Community. Find others that are seeking to grow spiritually and to grow deeper with God. Initiate new ways and places to meet others either individually or corporately once a week this month. Write in your journal the interactions you had with these new relationships.

June: Fast. Find something that you love like chocolate and fast it for a month. It is proven when we fast there are supernatural benefits in clarity, discernment, and new found strength for ourselves. Write in journal the supernatural benefits you are receiving this month as often as they occur.

July: Freedom. Celebrate the freedom you have been given as a believer in Christ. Celebrate that you are not a slave to sin or darkness anymore. Thrive in the knowledge you are free in the love of God. Write in your journal the outcomes of celebrating your freedom in Christ daily.

August: Volunteer. Give away some of your time and serve others this month. Write in your journal the benefits of focusing on other’s needs and the outcomes that this brings to your life on the days you serve.

September: Nature. This month spend time outside with God in His creation. Make it a goal to spend one set aside time a week outdoors. Write in your journal the experiences you have being one with nature and God.

October: Warfare. This month spend time every day praying against the evil and darkness. Intercede in prayer for the lost and breaking the chains of addictions, bad habits, and more off of yourself, loved ones, or friends. Write in your journal the success of your prayers defeating the devil and darkness through the power of the blood of Christ daily.

November: Thankfulness. express every day your thankfulness to God. Write in your journal every detail that you are thankful for in your life daily.

December: Peace. Bring more peace into your life, relationships, and into your mind. Choose good ways to infuse peace into your life and create a path for peace to be felt. Write in your journal the ways you are implementing to find more peace and the ways you see peace in your life daily.

It’s time to get started on the best year of your life!

Now that you have the topics for your spiritual goal list for 2020 be sure and buy a journal or use an electronic device to keep daily entries. Make the necessary preparations to make these goals attainable. Find a quiet area in your home or office, maybe find the same time every day to do your daily activities and journal.

Remember any level of progress is valuable.

The year 2020 will be an amazing year and a year of revival as we grow deeper with God and more spiritually sound.
